Still Stringing Along

Yep- Still stringing together Lanyards. I tried to quit-- really I did. But the orders kept rollin in so I kept stringing.. This top one is made from some Lampwork beads-- from back when I used to do that kind of thing. I call it Seascapes and it is for sale On Etsy. The next one down is Victorian Rose and it is also on Etsy. The other two have sold but thought you might like to take a peek. The Amethyst one had a "matching earrings" request. A few days ago I had a request for a lanyard. Of course I hadn't made any for awhile so I had nothing in stock. So after pawing around in the bead cave , pulling goodies from here and there I came up with this. You'll have to excuse my pictures today. They are a bit on the dark side. Gecko Bead Work

Gecko's are the cutest. This is some Bead work--LOTS of bead work that I made for some Regalia.

The strips measure 2 1/4 " x 13" and the center piece measures 5" x 7". The Pink fella's were not used in the set so I have them up for grabs in my Esty Store! Butterfly Dance Cuff Bracelet

Even thou there is no snow down here in the valley ( which is basically unheard of this time of year) I'm getting a Bad case of "cabin Fever". I am finding some things Funny --actually hysterical around this household and am beginning to think I might be a bit "punchy". For instance yesterday, and I still laugh everytime I think of this,

Ya know those Glade Fresheners that "spray" every so often-- I have one that sprays at every 9 minutes...I was changing the can inside of it and the phone rang--Well you know me-- Got a bit side tracked.

Pretty soon I hear RJ cussing and swearing.. I Had left it on the shelf right above the toilet and while he was sitting there it sprayed him in the back of the head...

LOL! It scared him so bad he almost fell off the toilet..ROTFLMAO!

So he starts yelling about smelling like Apple Pie and I am laughing so hard I can barely breathe..So he says-- is that all you can do? laugh? so I tried to quit but he walked by me and I said MMMMMM PIE.....he just stalked off.... I am still laughing... Reminds me of the time I blew his hat off by forgetting to put the PUR water filter back on the sink faucet in the kitchen..Still laughing about that one too! I am so easily amused!

Saturday Snapshot- A day late

The water on the lake was just as smooth as glass yesterday. After days of heavy fog the sun finally broke through and it was a gorgeous day. One thing about the fog and cold weather. For days there was a coating of Hoarfrost on everything. Which is actually kind of pretty. The sun does melt it fast when it comes out thou! All in all - Yesterday was a great day. We grabbed the youngest son from his house, headed to the lake, stopped at Cabela's and did some Shopping and then ate at Texas Roadhouse. If you have one near you-- I highly recommend it. Great food, great service and the Atmosphere is so much fun!

About this time a few days ago--musical notes--a little snatch of a melody--wormed their way into my head and played over and over. I knew I'd heard them before but had no idea when or where.. I HATE it when that happens..............
I hummed those notes all day long as I beaded away. That night, the notes continued to play in my mind until I finally fell asleep. In the morning they were gone. I couldn't remember the music .
Then, in the middle of the morning, the notes came back, arriving in my brain as suddenly as they had the day before. I called my "other" musical friend and hummed the notes to her. No go-- but then I cannot sing a note so who knows if I even put it out there right. But she says to me--"Remember that time your ex was walking around humming that music" ..We started laughing--and we kept laughing until we could barely talk on the phone...My Ex-- for days, he walked around casually humming this tune. He had no idea what it was but he liked the tune-- It was catchy--When I asked him what it was he said " I dont have a clue, but I cant get it out of my head" This went on for days. We had a party at our house and he walked around at it, now "whistling" his catchy tune. Every woman at the party would look at him and start to giggle, men just stared..At the end of the night, one of the woman asked him.."why are you humming and whistling that music?" he said-- Its catchy..I cant get it out of my head..."to which she replied" "Huh-- Apparently that Tampon company couldn't either". My friend and I went into hysterical laughter..the kind that has you holding the walls so you don't fall down-- Him-- well he didn't think it was funny...Me-- I still go into hysterical laughter every time I remember that day. Thank God for Music and laughter! I dont know--Maybe you had to be there!

Snow Blossom Necklace

Its Done! I decided to call it "Snow Blossom" . She sparkles and gleams and reminds me of an Icy Lake.
Now-- I'm trying to decide if I should write up a Tutorial. Its a fairly simple piece to make. I spent more time on that rope then the pendant.
And now-- I'll whip up a few cuffs..Hopefully my bead order is sitting at my Post Office Box. Who has their Christmas shopping done? Anyone? I have just about everything now--I find myself still picking up little stocking stuffers here and there thou... Stay Safe and warm!

Winter Trees

I love them! As much as I love Fall and all the vibrant colors of autumn leaves--I love Winter Trees even more. There is just something about waking up and looking out a window at a frosty crystal tree branch when I am warm and snug sipping my coffee in the morning. Soon we will be looking for our Christmas tree. Which reminds me of a Christmas a few years ago. We had tramped through waist deep snow to get the "perfect" tree. It was sitting out front by the truck while I was getting things moved in the house to make room- I looked up just in time to see one of the Neighborhood tomcats "spraying" the tree. (ya all know how bad that stinks right? ) So-- there it was and we decided that we would go find another "perfect" tree. And we did-- only to come home and find that someone had stolen the first tree. HHHMMMM do you think they finally realized why that tree was sitting out there? At first I hoped it really stunk for them-- then I thought-- Why?-- I had decided not to use it..and well, maybe it was someone who couldn't afford a tree or couldnt get out in the weather to find a tree, and maybe they were trying to make a Christmas special for their kids...Then I hoped it didn't stink or if it did it didn't last long....Either way-- I hope they got some enjoyment out of that Tom Tree. And Now-- I'm wondering why I am rambling about that stupid tree---LOL! I'll Post a Picture or two of this years "perfect" tree when we get it up and decorated..maybe a picture or two of the snowy ones on the mountain as well! And Yes-- I am beading-- I almost have a Piece done and will post pics soon!

I did it-- I revamped my old website and have it back online. I think I've had it turned off for over 2 years now.
So-- here it is-- a work in progress still. I'm still adding product and patterns but you can get the general idea. So what do you think of the color scheme-- The layout-- any suggestions? Another New Amulet Bag- Morning Star Wolf

This one is another variation of a Morning star and this one has a wolf track back and wolf charm. I've set it up so its removable and could possibly be used as a zipper pull. Those of you who follow my blog know that we (we as in my sweetie RJ and I) spend a lot of time outdoors. Weather it be hiking, driving up the mountain, fishing or just going for a drive out along the lake. You will also no doubt have noticed, the touch of sarcasm that seems to oooze out of me at times. Luckily for you--Poor Rj seems to catch the brunt of my sarcasm and what I would call wit---Him-- though fairly tolerant can be pushed to the edge.
So--The last drive up the mountain the conversation went something like this....

Me- Did You see that? STOP--I just saw something.
RJ- What--what did you see?
Me--If I knew that, I wouldn't have called it something.
RJ--Well- (rolling his eyes) what did you think you saw
Me-- Um-- It was either a bear--or possibly a Bigfoot
RJ- (another roll of the eyes) well for god sakes--where are you going? Stay in the jeep...
Me-- I'll only be a second--I want to see what it was
RJ--Fine-- But dont expect me to come running when you start screaming because its decided you would be a great afternoon snack.
Me-- Dont worry..Im pretty sure it was nothing. But if I scream--bring the gun..
RJ- well how frikken long do I have to sit here so you can see "nothin"
Me-- (by now I am back off the road and down in the brush on the side) I'll only be a sec...
RJ.. That sec was up like 2 secs ago.
Me- Fine--- ( But just for giggles I let out a scream)

Let It Snow, let it snow---NOT-- Beaded Snowflakes

At least its not real snow. I beaded these little flakes up for my mom--She makes her own cards and these will be part of her Christmas Greetings she mails out. I think they would also look awesome as little earrings--or maybe strung together with some crystals to make a bracelet? Has it snowed where you are yet? It has been freezing everynight here and we get up to ice on the water. The snow is slowly making its way down the mountain and I am sure it will be here before long. Could be this weekend as we are suppose to have some storms come through. Then--You will all get to listen to me gripe and complain. LOL-- I will try to keep it at a minimum.

Feather Star Business Card Sleeve

Wow-- This last week sure went by fast. This time of year is so busy for me. Getting things ready for winter finishing up projects etc before the snow flies. This last weekend I also had my 3 year old grand son Carrson with me. You forget how much you actually never get done with a 3 year old on your heels. But On the other hand he is such fun to be with and I enjoy his humor more then anything. We Carved pumpkins, played in the leaves and had a great time. This morning we got up to frosty whiteness...And a layer of Ice on the water....Snow at 2500 foot level...It's HERE! YUCKY!

Fanciful Flight

Yea!! Got a new pattern done and beaded and ready to go..This is "Fanciful Flight". Wish I could get a better picture so you could see the bling in that center crystal butterfly..This rainy weather is not cooperating with me. So the pattern was listed to "Bead Patterns Boutique" a little earlier today. The last week or so has been just busy busy! We finished up a remodeling job on a bedroom. It now has new window, carpet, knotty pine walls, fresh paint on ceiling etc. I hung new curtains and blinds and redecorated the whole "scheme" to a wildlife theme with wolves, buffalo and bear & elk..It looks pretty good, and yep-- thats me patting myself on the back! LOL. Im just so glad its done. I need to find one more dresser--then its officially done and I'll load a picture for ya to check it out! On another note-- The last day or so it has been brought to several bead designers attention that their patterns are being "copied" and sold by another etsy seller. It just IRKS me to no end that this "person" is blatantly stealing others designs and calling them her own. She has been contacted and she "claims" that she is Not a thief and they are her designs...Um Okay-- then why is she selling the FREE pattern that comes with the bead tool software as her own.....If you are a designer and want to check it out to see if maybe she is Pirating your patterns as well-- give me a shout out--I'll be happy to send you her info so you can take a peek. OH-- and by the way-- ETSY was contacted and they say that there is nothing they can do--SERIOUSLY? Its all still up in the air with emails flying back and forth-- Hopefully she will be shamed into a better code of conduct..

Holiday Beading--Already?

Yep-- I've started doing some of my Christmas beading. I always seem to wait to long to get it started and then.....Well lets just say a lot of it doesn't get done. The last few days and weekend have been more then a little hectic. Winter is descending on our area so quickly its scary. I feel like we barely had a summer and here it is already...Cold Wet weather with snow on its heels. Dont get me wrong-- I love Fall weather--It can be fall all winter if it likes-- Ya listening to me Mother Nature?
So in between bouts of Remodeling a bedroom and getting the property winterized I manged to sneak in some beading.

But Looky--- I beaded a Rivoli--With PEYOTE...and I did it all by myself--with my hands tied behind my back--Okay-- maybe not that last little part but you get the idea...Now-- What shall I do with my Beaded Rivoli...?

Addicted to Crystals

Well by now---You know My dirty little secret. I am a Crystal ~~Whore~~ hoarder. I love them..All sizes, all shapes and most colors. One of my very favorite things to make is a ring and these "Bellissima" rings are just so fun, quick and easy to make. The designer Valerie Felcetto Of Romina Designs really hit it out of the park with this design. I LOVE them and so do my customers. Here are a few pictures of some more I've made this last week. Wish I had a picture of the "peridot" one but it went out the door before I got a good picture of it. Well I suppose it doesn't HAVE to be a Halloween Ring....but, the other night when I went out to dinner I wore one of my rings I made using Romina Designs awesome Bellisima Ring pattern. These rings are real attention getters! So--the waitress wanted one In Halloween colors and this is what I came up with. I'll deliver it to her tonight. Crystal Rivoli Cuff

I finally finished up the Rivoli Cuff and the instructional tutorial. I really like this one as it would be really easy to change the colors to match any Rivoli. Fall is in the air here and I am thinking Halloween!

HHHMMMM- It has been a busy week. And, I didn't even realize, it has been a whole week since I last posted-Shame On Me! I think its the cold weather here. This morning it is 42 degrees and you can smell Fall in the air. The leaves are dropping and there's a little frost on the pumpkin.. I have a few things I've beaded but I am working to finish the patterns before posting. I Finished a Transom window as well..So-- I have an Excuse--well one that is feasible in my feeble mind. LOL!! So Until I have the "other" items ready to show you, you'll have to tolerate another Saturday Snapshot. So many of you sent me emails about the Deer in my last picture and how "tame" they seem....Well they are--Here they are at the school up the road..Since hunting season is about to start here--ya think maybe they think they are safer here! No shooting inside the town limits!

The last few days I have been working on this crystal bracelet..20 minutes here--20 minutes there...
You know how that goes when you have a whirlwind of things going on. I have to say that I LOVE this pattern.
It is by Marie Starr and the instructions are so easy to understand and follow. I did make mine in a different color and I added my own clasp. Marie has an awesome instruction for a Beaded Toggle included with the pattern thou. If you are a beginner or seasoned beader you will love how this works up. After I made the first "doubloon" I had the basic concept down and did not need the instructions again until it came time to attach the pieces. Oh the Sparkle and Bling of it all! Crystal Rivoli Pendant

If you've been following my blog you all know that I've been working on some Rivoli rings from a pattern By Valerie Felcetto...Well Today I got a ring most of the way done and I was doing the band decided to turn it into a pendant instead. Here are the results of that adaptation...I personally being a bluesy kind of person Like how this one turned out. Now I am off to finish up a bracelet I started working on this afternoon. This one is a design by Marie Starr Of Starr Designs. I am changing it to a Bridal type color scheme and I am loving how easy and quickly this one works up too.

As Promised earlier this week, here is the other Cuff that was on one of my other looms. I backed this one with a soft white leather and it has a "Snake" toggle clasp. Nothing feels better then finally getting a project done..It really didn't take me that long if you count the actual time I sat down working on it..You know how it goes-- an hour here- an hour there..Im not touching THAT today..LOL! So here it is-- The Color Chaos Amulet bag- sides are a bit different but use all the same colors. Somehow I manged to get one of those "funky" cones of nymo that wanted to twist and turn and tangle, and it made putting the fringe on a wicked mess. It didn't matter which way I strung the needle-- How much conditioning of the thread it would twist, curl and roll up on itself like an evil piece of Bindweed. About 1/2 way through I went and bought a new cone--The other "wicked" cone has been banished to the Thread shelf to await smaller projects. IF-- I ever decide to let it out again...
So the pattern for the bag--including fringe-- is available on Bead Patterns Boutique. If you are one of My Etsy Shoppers it will be there a little later today as well.

In Spokane there is a building Called "The Flour Mill". It is a--well-- an old flour mill that sits on the edge of the Spokane River and in 1974 it was converted to a shopping /gallery type center. One of my very favorite places to shop in this city. Inside, is my favorite shop, Wonders Of The World. If you ever come to Spokane it is a must see. There are treasures from all over the world in this shop. Take a peek at some of the pictures. The Owner Pam, travels and buys little and large treasures from all over the world. And Beads-- did I tell you about the beads...When you are done browsing through this wonderful place you can go across the hall and visit one of the other shops in the Flour Mill. The Kitchen Engine, a store with every kitchen gadget, spice etc known to mankind. Or-- the Chocolate Apothecary or--Lotions and Potions...or You could go down stairs and eat at Clinkerdaggers while you enjoy the river rushing past. You can easily spend and afternoon browsing around and exploring the nooks and corners of this fabulous old building.

Midnight Blue-- Beaded Sodalite Necklace

I know you all know this--or at least you regular readers do-- I Like the Blues. Well, the colors anyway, not so much a fan of the music. I purchased this Sodalite Cabochon a few weeks ago and have been beading on it off and on for the last week or so. Its been one of those weeks where I feel like I'm being pulled in about 10 different directions but I finally got it done. Whew! I used a window style bezel and a twisted edge. My original idea had it with fringe but I think the edge on this can stand alone so - no fringe on this one. I purchased this Cabochon from my friend Nicole at Beadwright. I love the deep midnight blue of the piece. If you haven't already shopped Nicole's store check it out..Beautiful Cabs and the backings to go with them..

On one of our trips out picking spring mushrooms we came across a few of natures babies.

This pair of Elk babies were tucked up under a few trees. I'm sure their Momma was not far off so We just took a few pictures and left them to their nap.

A little further down the other side of the mountian we came across this momma Moose and her baby cooling off in a creek. We had high waters this spring so the creek was more like a river.

Toy On Fire

Not long ago we went up the mountain on one of our drives..As we came around the corner we saw a young man running up the dirt road towards us. The young man looked a little scratched and battered so we stopped to see if he needed help..He was Crying and told us that he had just wrecked his grandpa's 4 wheeler and it was on fire, he was headed up the mountain to their campsite to get help. He was insistant that he did not need medical help but was worried that the ATV being on fire may start a forest fire..Another truck came along and they took the young man up to his campsite while we headed down to find the ATV and prevent it from spreading to the woods...It wasn't hard to find...Grandpa's New toy-- Luckily the boy managed to move it to the middle of the road and luckily he was not badly hurt, but it caused quite a stir on a typically quiet mountain...

Dakota Stars Bracelet

Funny story behind this bead pattern. When I first designed this pattern it was for some strips that I added to a black leather jacket. The beadwork looked awesome on this jacket. Wish I had a picture of it. As some of you know- I ~~was~~ raised By wolves.
Dakota was a Timberwolf and had the most horrible manners of any animal I've ever come across. He decided he liked my jacket and "stole" it. By the time I found it. It was in Bitty, bitty pieces. All except the sleeves. I took the beadwork off of the sleeves and used one strip for a collar for the "beast". I came across my old friends collar this last week when I was cleaning out a closet. Dakota Passed on a little over a year ago. I thought the pattern still appealed to me so--I made a Bracelet. Actually I made two. Saturday Snapshots- Bear Grass

Bear Grass looks like a grass, but really belongs to the lily family. Its also known as squaw grass, quip-quip, soap grass and Indian Basket Grass. The flowers of bear grass grow on a stalk that can be 6 feet tall with many small flowers. It has a kind of sweet aroma.
Bear grass is found in open forests and meadows at higher elevations in the western United States. It is usually found under alpine larch and white pine stands on cold side of the mountain at upper timberlines.
It is one of the first plants to grow back after a fire.
Native Americans in Idaho, Washington , Montana , and British Columbia have traditionally made beautiful baskets with the stems and leaves of beargrass. When I say leaves, I mean the grass at the base of the plant..It kind of reminds me of a Yucca with a different texture. When the leaves are dried in the sun for making baskets, they turn a creamy white. When mixed with other materials of different colors, like cattails or dyed reeds beautiful designs are woven into the baskets. I took this picture high up the mountains above Spirit Lake Idaho.
A few weeks ago We stopped at a Art/Craft show in Cataldo Idaho. There was a woman there with the most beautiful baskets woven out of bear grass. It is truly an art form. Wish I had a picture of her baskets as well but I dont..

Sonoma Cuff Bracelet

After days of not designing I'm jumping back into it. I finished up this cuff last night and have listed the pattern to Bead Patterns Boutique. There are several new patterns that other designers have added as well over the last week or so. Be sure to check them all out. I love the colors in this Sonoma Cuff. I may have to make a pair of matching earrings while I've got the beads still sitting here.
Now, I have a few more designs lurking in my brain so I'll try to get those out before I start beading my next cabochon piece. I hope you are all staying Cool or as in my case warm..Its a whopping 62 degrees so far here today..

The Lion Roars- or maybe he just growls.

A few days ago I shared a beginning picture of a Mt Lion piece I was working on. Although, I did change my mind about half way through, and reworked my original "plan". But here he is and I am happy with the way he turned out. I used a spiral stitch rope for the Necklace with a 14kt Goldplate Toggle clasp. I centered the rope On a Bone hairpipe Bead. The Lion cabochon I purchased from Kristie at Sculptedwindows on Etsy. If you are not already familiar with her work, check it out. She is a true master at her craft! I love her work and have another piece of hers..An eagle..She also has a Blog you can check out as well.

Summer Nostalgia

For more than a month now I've been operating under the influence of the heaviest bout of nostalgia that's ever settled on my shoulders. It happens to me every summer, but this year it just seems like so much more then nostalgia. I have even had thoughts about moving...Away from the crime of the city I live in now, to the small town where no one ever locked a door.
Twisp Washington is only about 175 miles from Spokane. It has hardly changed from the way it was in the 1960s & 70's. I miss the farms and ranches on our road, each one different from the next , all with windows and doors wide open in summer. I miss the slamming of the screen doors, the sound of the irrigation sprinklers in the fields, the bellow of the cattle and the nickers of the horses. I miss the smell of fresh corn and ripe tomatoes in the garden, the alfalfa in the fields and of clean laundry hung on the clothesline to dry in the sun. Walking to the river for a swim, mom taking us to the Hiway market for a sno-cone on blistering hot days. There are so many little things, little moments, I wish I could experience one more time. I envy my childhood friends that have managed to stay in the Valley that I once called home. Maybe Its time for a visit, go back home. Except now-- No family to visit, someone else lives on the ranch and something tells me it just wont be the same staying in a motel. Trust me--I am not moving there-- I also have memories of Snow--Lots and lots of deep deep snow and cold cold cold.....If only it were summer year round! The picture is Of Blackpine Lake. We used to snowmobile and Ice fish on this lake as kids.

Wow-- Its been a few days since I've been on here. Been busy finishing up a few orders and I also started this Mountain lion piece. Yes--I started using 15/0 beads last night and thought--Why oh why did I decide to use beads that only mice can see..So out came the stronger glasses.. So this is the project in process. Now I know the other picture is a bit blurry--okay-- really blurry--But I took it with my cell phone and I had to snap the photo real quick, before another customer stepped into the frame...This is a trading Post I visited over the 4th weekend in Plummer Idaho. The Warpath...Walls and walls of beads, tables and tables of beads, Leather, pendleton fabric, feathers, shells--you name it they had it..Then there was the gift shop too...I had a great time in that store. Great prices--LOL- if you don't count the gas money I spent to get there!!

Polymer Clay Cabochons

The last few days have had me at the polymer clay corner of my studio. Filling special orders and making up some new color combos etc...My special orders were mainly Halloween and Xmas pieces which I'll show you later on. Its hard to get in that "mood" this early in the year. Although Im not sure why--I went shopping a few days ago and summer items were already in clearance and Fall and winter items were already being put out. Isn't it to early for that? Or am I stuck in a time warp? So these are a few of the pieces of the last few days.
Now I have a few more to finish up and then I'll move back to the Bead or glass corners.

Totem Cuff Series

A totem can be the symbol of a tribe, clan, family or individual. Native American tradition says that each individual is connected with nine different animals that will accompany each person through life, acting as guides. Different animal guides come in and out of our lives depending on the direction that we are headed and the tasks that need to be completed along our journey.

Native beliefs also explain that a totem animal is one that is with you for life, both in the physical and spiritual world. Though people may identify with different animal guides throughout their lifetimes, it is this one totem animal that acts as the main guardian spirit.

With this one animal a connection is shared, either through interest in the animal, characteristics, dreams, or other interaction.

This Animal Guide offers power and wisdom to the individual when they "communicate” with it, conveying their respect and trust. This does not necessarily mean that you actually pet or spend time with this animal, more that you are open to learning its lessons.

Have you ever felt drawn to one animal or another without being able to explain why? This could be animal, including birds and insects.
Does a certain kind of animal consistently appear in your life? This doesn’t necessarily have to be a physical appearance, it could be represented in other ways such as receiving card and letters with the same animal pictured over and over, unexplainable dreams of a particular animal, watching television and seeing the same animal featured time and time again, or, actually having the animal show up.
When you go to the zoo, a park, wildlife area, or forest, what are you most interested in seeing?
Are there any animals that you find to be extremely frightening or intriguing?
Is there a particular animal that you see frequently when you’re out in nature?
Have you ever been bitten or attacked by an animal?
Are you drawn to figurines or paintings of a specific animal?

Have you ever had a recurring dream about a certain animal, or a dream from childhood that you have never been able to forget?

The totem itself is a symbol that represents this animal. This could be any number of items - a crest, a totem pole, an emblem, a small figurine or anything else that depicts your animal guide.

I have decided to design and bead a series Of Animal Totem cuffs. The first 3 of the series are done and I have added the Patterns to Bead Patterns Boutique.

A Gift

Yesterday I received a package in the mail. As soon as I saw the post mark from Australia I knew it was from my sweet friend Julie. I wanted to tear into it the moment I saw it but I waited -------at least until I was out of the Post Office..till I at least got to the Jeep. Inside was this beautiful treasure box. My very favorite colors and what a gorgeous design. I am in awe of Julie's beading talent. The box feels almost like silk and its structure is amazing. Just looking at it makes me feel so happy. Aw- another rainy day in the Pacific Northwest. Good day to curl up with a book- Or get busy and bead I suppose. Here is my latest design. The Mini Feathers Bracelet. Native Horse Regalia

I know that I have shared one of these pictures with you before. But-- Several people have asked for more. So here they are. I spent several months on the bead work for the horse. The wolf on the beast plate has over 50,000, 11/0 seed beads in it alone. There is also a Beaded War Pony, Polar bear and eagle on the blanket. The Photos are by Photographer Rita Nicholson and are in her Book "Native Treasure". A beautiful book about Appaloosa Horses. Great Pictures and Book dedicated to a breed of horse that survived under the worst of circumstances.

Snake Pit

Another weekend and a Sunday Adventure. Yesterday we drove east towards Idaho yet again. The first picture is lake Coeur D' Alene. It is flooding a bit and some docks are still under water. Still beautiful but the water is so cold that no one is out boating or jet skiing. At least on this end of the lake. The 2nd picture is of the mountains in Montana from the Mountains In Idaho. The 3rd Picture is Of the North Fork of the Coeur D Alene River near Bumble Bee Campground. The 4th picture Is the Top of the mountain Above Bumble Bee..The snow is still making one of our favorite mountain roads impassable. We had to back track and come back down the way we went up. HATE it when that happens.The 5th Picture is The Snake Pit. It's a snug little restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It was a railroad layover, a mining town bar, a brothel, and a hotel at some points in its history...They Specialize in Buffalo Burgers, a great salad bar, and the best Huckleberry Ice Cream you've ever had. The Snake pit Is a Favorite stop for locals and a place tourist and campers come back to year after year. This little western themed bar and restaurant also played a role in a award winning movie. This is the very same bar at which Pierce Brosnan sat and filmed a couple of scenes for the adventure movie Dante's Peak. Yeah, Pierce Brosnan, one of the Bond characters. Not the best one in my opinion. But still-- Pretty cool, right? If it was good enough for this movie...well, then that speaks for itself!

Weekend Blues!

So the weekend is here and I am bored. Normally we would head out on the lake to fish or to the mountain for a Picnic. Not happening this weekend, or at least today anyway. The lake is flooding, and the dock is under water. And there are massive Logs floating just under the surface. We are suppose to have thunderstorms and rain showers in the mountains so we won't be going there either. Not smart when you could get stuck behind a mudslide. Actually there are 30 people stuck behind a mudslide in the area right now and crews are working to get the Road cleared for them this morning.

So-- I was going to take a photo of a linen closet that needs to be cleaned. I was thinking that by showing y’all what a mess it was, I’d be forced to clean it. So, since you haven’t seen a photo, let’s just pretend I didn’t mention it.
I think I'll go dabble with beads or glass and just pretend its a weekday. Yesterday I sorted 11/0 Matsuno Beads. I use to sell these in my Lil' shop. I have so many left over from those days and decided to do some destashing. So-- I figured I have 61 colors that I am going to part with. Assorted colors and finishes and I've bagged some of them up in 1 oz (28 gram) bags. I'm still trying to decide weather I should sell them as a set-- Or color sets, Maybe finish type sets? I suppose I have enough to do all..(If I had the giddy up and go to do that.) Listing things is not on of my list of favorite things to do-- can you tell? Hope you are all having a great weekend. Some one soak up some sun for me.

Its Official

We are having the coldest Spring on record. Of course our local records Only go back to 1890--something. Today our high will be 60 degrees. Yesterday we made it up to a whopping 66 degrees. We have not made it to the 80's yet at all--This is where the record is set..By now we are usually in the 80's. I know the rest of you or at least a good portion are suffering from Severe high temps. For those of you who don't know. I live In Washington State. Spokane to be exact. And, My furnace is on this morning- Its 46 degrees outside and I am sitting here shivering. But No-- I do NOT want to trade for that 100+ degree weather. I will be happy when It hits 70 degrees--this weekend--hopefully. Those of you that want to escape the heat--Take a vacation to Spokane--bring a parka..We'll have lunch. Next to the fire...
I have been working on a number of projects and will have some pictures soon. In the mean time here are a few new patterns. Untested as of yet, but I do have the beads pulled to get them started. Southwestern Appeal- Bracelet

Do you think we develop our tastes for designs and color as children? I always wonder if my mom's tastes had been different, if mine would be. My mom has always decorated with a bit of a Southwestern Flair, with a bit of rustic country mixed in. My tastes seem to go in that general direction in both my jewelry and in the decor of my home as well. I LOVE southwestern Art and decor, clothes and designs. needless to say it shows up in my beadwork more often then not. So here is my latest cuff. Southwestern Appeal. I listed the pattern on
Bead Patterns Boutique earlier today. The cuff will probably go to Etsy sometime this week. I lined this one with the Most fabulous Chocolate brown leather that I received from my friend Nicole at Beadwright. I also added a copper Toggle to match the coppers in the cuff. I hope you are all having a great weekend. It has finally warmed up here. So I am off to enjoy some sunshine on my deck!

Jewel Tones Cuff

Yesterday I finished up another pattern and got it listed. This was a "by request" pattern. One a customer was looking for in specific colors. I must say it does match her fabric perfectly. So this Jewel Tones Pattern has been listed at Bead Patterns Boutique. It would be pretty easy to transfer this to your favorite colors as there are only 7 delica bead colors used. I think it would be really pretty in Turquoises & Blues. I'm a bluesy kind of gal!
So now I am off to finish up another UFO (unfinished Object). I am not sure how I ended up with so many of them. I've been bouncing back and forth between projects..That probably explains it!

Red Streaky Bowl

Did you ever have a moment when you were making something, and the plan just wasn't going like you envisioned? Thats what happened with this red streaky Bowl. I wanted this piece to be a rich dark ruby, which it is in places. But it also has Orange and Yellow Streaks. Which I do Like, but wasn't quite what I was wanting or expecting. It will make a pretty fruit bowl or decorative piece. Its nice and thick so I would be comfortable using it.
Did you all have a nice 3 day weekend? I did, but now I need to get back to work on some of these projects that are lurking around here.

Fixer Upper

So in my travels this weekend we came upon this Old House. It sits High a top a hill in a gorgeous valley. The first thing that popped into me feeble mind was-- Oh Lookie-- a fixer upper! I love this old house. It has Character and I have convinced myself that its loaded with Ghostly occupants. So this is the house as you drive up to it..and the second picture is the view they had out their windows--Isn't it awesome!

Saturday Adventure- Red Marble

For This Saturday's Mountain Adventure we went Above Chewelah Washington. One of our favorite Spots. At the top is an old abadoned Marble Quarry. Red Marble--which really is not red so much as a gorgeous Pink. Anyway- Pictures from yesterday...

The road up!! If you come across another person doing what you are doing you have to back up or they back up to the closest wide spot so you can squeeze by each other. The mountain was a popular spot yesterday.

Once we were close to the top this wild Thunder and lightning storm rolled over us-- It was quite loud and Mother nature really put on a show. It rolled back out after about 30 minutes and we had bright sunny skies again. All in all another great day. I did talk my hero into hefting a Big ol chunk of red marble into the jeep- It was kind of the shape of a crude Horse head..Once Its in my flower bed or on my deck I'll post a picture of it.

Faux Dichroic Clay & Stuff!

Saturday Mountain Adventure

I think I've told you before about our get away from it all days--we ( my sweetie and I) play hookie and head to a lake or mountain or something--just to get us the "hell outta dodge" so to speak. Its good for the soul, cures cabin fever and basically keeps us from wanting to kill each other! So yesterday we traveled towards Idaho. There is a Mountain above Wolf Lodge Bay On Lake Couer d' alene. Wolf Lodge bay is famous for not only the beauty of the area but a Migration of Bald Eagles. From November through February you can sit at the waters edge and see upwards of 100 eagles at any given time. They feed on the spawning Kokanee salmon in the lake. Some of the eagles are there year round. At the base of the mountain is also--what else?-- Wolf Lodge..Which is a Steakhouse with the most unique decor inside. If you ever plan to go-- make a reservation--It is a Favorite spot of many. On to our Adventure..As we head up the mountain one of the first things we come across is this...

Does this put us off--Of course not--I have a Jeep

So we drive on and come to this

HHHMMMM Over half the road has slid down the mountain from the flooding, excessive snow and rain we've had. Does this put us off?-- No-- After all the jeep will go anywhere. Right? We sneak by with plenty of room..at least an inch beyond the tires on both sides. We continue on up the road.

We drove for Miles, stopping here and there to pick up interesting, rocks & Morel Mushrooms,

But then --Look who slid out for a visit..

So we had a Fabulous day on the mountain--Until we hit the snow Line--I demanded that the jeep be turned around and taken to where I did not have to see that and we returned to the Nice green Valley. See the flooding in the middle of the fields-- thats the river moving closer and closer..We are under Flood watch and today it is raining..Hopefully the water will not move to far up.

And Last but not least--Look at this gorgeous crab Apple Tree- So full of Blooms.

We had a great day--and hopefully getting out and about will keep the Crabbies away!

Elegant Pinwheels

Yesterday I finished up a new design and got it beaded up. I love the look of this piece. Elegant Pinwheels Pattern is available on Bead Patterns Boutique. I haven't decided if I want to sell the cuff or not yet..I may have to keep this one for myself.

It is starting to finally warm up in this part of the country. I love the warm weather but it also is bringing Flooding to our area-- there is so much snow in the mountains , with the melting of that and with the Rain and Thunder boomers --well you get the idea....We are now warm- but rather soggy! On another note-- What the hell happened to my post from yesterday? It and the comments just disappeared...There are ghosts banging around in here I tell ya!

Radio Flyer FlashBacks

Oh the Decisions!
After a day of shopping for a Birthday present for my grandson, I still sit here empty handed. Luckily I have a few more days to get my shopping done.
I can't find the gift I want- Mostly because I am struggling about what Kind of gift he should have. Last Year we got him a Radio Flyer Tricycle. Which he just recently learned to pedal on his own. We enjoyed almost a full year of Grandma or his Daddy pushing or pulling him around the sidewalks of the house while he squealed and laughed in delight. Of course once or twice we "crashed" and sustained scrapes and bruises. Huh-- Maybe a Helmet?
When I learned to rollerskate, I had metal skates that fit on over my shoes. I had no knee pads, no elbow pads, and certainly no helmet. Same goes for when I learned to ride a bike. Boys and girls from up and down our road played touch football together in the pasture at dusk, usually with bare feet. Biggest Danger? Cow Pies!
We all explored the woods around us, plus all the little creeks and streams & The mighty Methow River that rattlesnakes snakes called home.
We caught garden snakes and grasshoppers--the 'hoppers we used when we went fishin' in those creeks and streams and River.
We walked barefoot on gravel driveways, we got fish hooks caught in our fingers and feet. We got ticks in our heads that our parents pulled out with little fanfare. Since we were mostly barefoot, we got stickers in our feet and when going to your friends down the road you walked on the hot asphalt road.
When we played baseball, we had sliding practices. We learned to slide on the side; we learned to slide head-first. Once again-- Biggest danger Cow Pies.
We climbed trees and skinned our knees, we built 'houses' in those trees. We played with hammers and nails, screwdrivers, and wrenches. We took flying leaps from the loft of the barn into the piles of loose hay below..( and mom if you are reading this, I didn't jump, My brothers pushed me)
We camped out in the yard. We rode our horses and played Cowboys and Indians. We were stepped on, scraped off and bucked off more horses then I can remember.
Until I became a mother myself, I never understood or appreciated how my Mom must have felt. Kids get hurt. Accidents happen. Sad but true.
Of course we want to spare our children the pain...but how will they learn to live through it, deal with it, if we never let them experience? We always had scrapes and bruises and contusions growing up, every finger and thumb jammed, broken bones, sprained ankles, cuts, scrapes and heaven knows what else--because we were experiencing life. I was out playing and playing with friends and exploring and biking and running and climbing and skating and collecting and having fun. As much as I LOVE to read, I just didn't spend much time indoors, especially during the summer. Mom would shoo us outside with a popsicle or a cold drink and tell us to " Go Outside- blow the stink off--Go play. Stay out of trouble."
That's why I wonder how those children (my generation) became the parents who bought their children every electronic device known to man and let them sit around in a vegetative state in front of the TV. With video games, computers, whatever. How did we get to this?
I didn't want my kids to suffer any of the painful things. But I didn't interfere too much, either. They also had the electronic Gadgets. Times have changed, I am not sure I like it. Granted-- The electronic gadgets of today make life simpler. After all-- I can't imagine life without my computer or microwave--But then on the other hand-- I only use the microwave for making popcorn--go figure!
So-- Back to the Grandsons Birthday Present--I've made my decision-- That boy is going to get a Radio Flyer wagon to go with his Radio Flyer tricycle of last year...And a Helmet-- That Boy is not getting hurt on Grandma's watch!

Bridal Crystal

Golden Hibiscus Bracelet

A few months ago I made up this Golden Hibiscus Cuff Pattern from an amulet bag pattern I previously designed. Bethel Anthony Beaded up the cuff pattern for me. Isn't it gorgeous? I just got the beads a few days ago to make myself one as well. After seeing Bethel's piece my fingers are itching to get it made up. The pattern is available in both Loom and Peyote.

Swarovski Crystal Tennis Bracelet

I love doing quick and easy projects. Today while I am waiting for a certain package to arrive for some of my glass work I decided to make a few Tennis bracelets. These Swarovski Crystal bracelets work up fast and are a breeze to make. Single right angle weave embellished with delicas and a toggle clasp. If you use 4mm crystals you need about 100 of them for a 7" bracelet. About 1 gram of delicas and a toggle and some Nymo and you have everything you need. Wah lah! A Fine gift for graduation, prom or mothers day.

Tomorrow Is Cinco D' Mayo and also my Birthday..I'll be 49. I still haven't decided how I feel about that yet-- You know-- staring 50 in the face. I guess its really not that bad-- I'd hate to be in my 20's and struggling again. The 30's were not so bad- Nor were the 40's, ! Maybe the 50"s will be even better? Have a Margarita for me! I'm sure I'll have one or two also!

Beaded Glass Buttons

Hi, My name is Lori and I am addicted-- ADDICTED to Glass buttons. I am a ~~HOARDER~~ collector of glass buttons. And of course the internet is full of glass buttons. I got's to have them all I tell ya!
So I Haven't been sewing a whole bunch lately so I'm going to start beading these beautific buttons up. I cut the shank off of this Heart Button. There are so many colors flashing through this button that I couldn't decide on any one color of bead..So, Iris beads to the rescue. Its a sparkly little treasure, And I do love me some sparklies...
